Tailgate Problem
No not the cables. The pass. side latch wasn't clicking into place and yesterday it slammed open and next thing I know I'm picking up **** thats spread all over the road
So after that I get home and remove the latch on that side, That SUCKED trying to get the bar back into the latch clip. Well after I took it out I checked it and it latched and unlached fine. I pulled on the bar that goes to the handle and it wasnt moving easily at all. I removed the handle and bezel, and the top of the handle has nothing to stop water from going inside the tailgate, water got all over the spring and the two white wafers making them bind up. I soaked them in WD40 and reassembled the whole thing and now it opens easily and makes a nice clicking sound when closed.
So... To check yours out.
Take a screwdriver and manually operate the latch with the tailgate open and see if it clicks. If it dosn't make any noise and just goes into place. I would pop off the bezel only and give her a WD40 bath on the two white wafers and the spring in the handle. If it clicks then I would say you are OK
I just posted this for future reference and so you don't lose your **** too

I've had same problems. It did it once when I picked up my wheels from UPS and almost lost them on the road. I usually slam it shut and pull hard on it, to see if it will open on me. Thanks for the tip, I'll try that and see if it fixes it.
