Default TBSS vs "regular TB 5.3

Ok Ive been looking for a new vehicle for a bit now and the TB is on my list. It fits my needs. Heres the deal I really like the TBSS, but I just think its out of my price range. I could probably afford it, but I just dont think I want a payment that large, they seem to run about 7k more than a regular TB. I could afford a regular 5.3 TB though, there are a few in my area that are in my price range, im basically looking at 06s.

Im sure the differences between the SS and the regular are pretty significant. Can a regular 5.3 TB be made as fast ans an SS?? are mid 13s possible without getting too crazy. Would heads and cams get it there? would it just be better starting out with the ss, im sure it would be but thers the money issue?

There is no replacement for displacement get the ss. Its an LS2 they're such badass suvs. I think if you got a 5.3 you would spend more than the differance trying to get comperable horse power and appearance.

Alternatively to what's been said, I'll vote for the 5.3L. The LM7 loves boost and there are more than a few MP112's out there for sale used @ $3K or so....5.3L (IMO) is the ideal displacement for the 112.

So if budget is a concern, I'd say go for the cheaper TB and make up for it with boost.

I guess what im saying is price is a concern. I do like the TBSS, but I think it would be a bit of a stretch to afford one. I could probably do it, but it would be a stretch. I could easily swing a regular TB however. I just dont know if I would be driving around in a regular always saying I wish I would have spent the extra. That said im sure my wallet will be happier if I just went regular.

yeah see the problem around where Im at there arent any under 20K, the cheapest is just a hair under 21. They all seem to have leather and nav, 2 things I dont really need, so I guess ill just have to keep my eye out.

Performance aside, the TBSS is a TBSS, but the regular TB is something that soccer moms drive.

For example, you could make an 87 Buick Regal as fast as an 87 Grand National for less than the price difference, but that does not make it nearly as cool as a Grand National. This is just my .02
