temperature actuator?

Depends whether its the drivers or passenger. If its the passenger one its up top gotta pull the dash... yeah that's a fun project. You better do it or the dealership will smoke you for like $650+ to change that actuator. The drivers is cake. Its on the lower side... visable once you remove the lower cover. It takes some hunting but you can find the right actuators for like $30. I think they were dorman? Don't pay the dealership prices. Goodluck!

thanks for the reply. its my buddies truck. and he thought the actuator was bad. but i felt his hoses (no heat) and the return hose was warm while the supply was normal hot. so today i flushed his heater core and it all seems good.
im hoping thats all it was, cuz if i have to help him pull the whole dash that would suck (cuz with my luck it would be the pass).

Good to know, I was worried if i end up having to put a new heater core in it down the road that it would kick my ***!

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust\Cooling System\Service and Repair
3. Recover the refrigerant.
4. Disconnect the heater hoses. See: Heater Hose\Service and Repair
5. Remove the accumulator.
6. Remove the instrument panel carrier. See: Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators\Instrument Cluster / Carrier\Service and Repair
7. Remove the HVAC module drain hose.
8. Disconnect the electrical harnesses and the ground connections as needed.
9. Remove the HVAC module mounting nuts and the screws.
10. Remove the HVAC module assembly. Set the HVAC module assembly on a bench.
11. Remove the heater core cover screws.
12. Remove the heater core cover.
13. Remove the heater core.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the heater core.
2. Install the heater core cover. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
3. Install heater core cover screws. Tighten Tighten the heater core cover screws to 9 N.m (80 lb in)
4. Install the HVAC module assembly to the vehicle.
5. Install the HVAC module mounting nuts and the screws. Tighten
o Tighten the mounting bolts to 4 N.m (35 lb in)
o Tighten the mounting nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in)
6. Connect the electrical harnesses and the ground connections as needed.
7. Install the HVAC module drain hose.
8. Install the instrument panel carrier
9. Install the accumulator.
10. Connect the heater hoses.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.
12. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
13. Recharge the air conditioning system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
