a while back i ran into an ad in truckin' for pro-finish pro-glass( http://www.profinish-proglass.com ). not sure if anyone has heard of em, but they make shaker/ram air hoods for the newer gmc trucks as well as other trucks. question is, would running the shaker set-up have any hp increases? i e-mailed them the same question and got nothing but shrugged shoulders in response.

i doubt it; i think it's mainly for looks like in the old hot rods that used to have the shaker hoods.

i'll buy your "old cowl" if you want to get a new hood.

 

look at the second picture. the original intake is still on there. i'm pretty sure this "shaker" hood is nuthin more than a hood with a hole in it and a fancy engine cover. it might look good but i wouldn't expect any performance gain out of it.

edit: before hyde and mix jump all over this, by original intake i mean the TB and airbox are still in the same place. i realize that is a K&N intake. i just meant that this shaker hood has nothing to do with air intake like the shaker hoods of old did.

yeah that's what i was thinking too, just wasn't sure cuz the picture is kind of dark to tell.
