I did mine, by myself, springs and all, in about 11 hours. That was my first one and the hardest part was getting the pulley off because I did it with a 3 jaw puller. Before I do my hd I will buy the right puller. I did have the pulley installer and the double spring tool. This was on an 03 with no efans. I have heard many people say 2-6 and I can see how after doing mine. Springs took longer than the cam, if you have fans than 4-6 should be easy with a buddy to do springs while you do cam, if alone plan ahead and have everything u need.

4-5 hours for cam and springs if you take your time but you better allow yourself a couple more hours if you're gonna put a new timing chain on because you're gonna have to drop the oil pan to get the oil pump off to remove the timing chain

16.9 hours according to ALLDATA. Of course, this is assuming that you take the heads off and pull the lifters. If you skip that stage and hope the lifter trays will hold them, then it's only about 3 hours.

You don't actually have to drop the oil pan more than 2" to get the pump off. You don't even have to move the oil pickup tube any. However, it's certainly not the easiest way.

If you haven't done it before, expect a couple days. It's the things you don't expect that will slow you down.

Just use some dowel rods to hold the lifters up

Yeah once doing the swap with an experienced mechanic I could definately be able to see 2-3hrs of just knocking it out. I didnt pay attention to my timing when I put it back together (said experienced mechanic wasnt around and I was in a hurry to hear it run) and I broke a valve and jacked up a piston pretty good.
