Tip/trick for removing door handle latch mechanism?
Does anyone have any advice for getting this nail/pin out of the latch? I've tried pulling in every way possible and can't get it to budge. I'm trying to put a rear door handle on the front. Thanks.

GM gives next to none as far as extra length; so u were warned. It can be done, but it's just about impossible.
Not really sure why this bothers you. Esp. if u have keyless entry. As in why put the rear handle on front, to do away w/. the keyhole? Explain a bit more so I can help you.
Oh ya, what color?

What do you mean extra length?
A bitch blew out my window about a year ago and mangled the entire keyhole mechanism. So I've been rolling around with a doorhandle with no key cylinder it in. Ghetto.
I have this pewter rear handle I want to put on and just eliminate the keyhole all together. But I need to switch out the rear latch mechanism for the front mechanism on my current front handle.

When that roll pin is cut, u now have removed that much extra length of material. Say u use a cut off whell that remove 1/8", now it's 1/8"shorter. Now not only is it shorter, to get it to stay in place, it has to be creased over for lack of a better term. It's rather delicate to do, not scratching or damaging, breaking a plastic handle. Make sense?

Mike, sorry but it's been a long time. Where I worked, that's how we did it. There may be another way, but from what I recall, we exhausted all options, & that was all that was left. When we went to crease or swedge, whatever, to get roll pin to hold in place, it almost didn't make it.
Wheer did u source that rear handle from? Cause other than an Esky (feat. a chrome pull), a CC should work as a Hoe or Burb, like the Z71's had, cause IIRC, the Z71 hoes & Burbs feat. a handle w/. no keyhole. Wouldn't that work here?

IDK if they had the same latch mech. but know there's no keyhole. Denali should be another on that list. Free is always good.
Can u please post a pic of both latch mechanisms so that I can see how they differ? Maybe that'll help jog my memory or get some others to chime in.
You know I changed mine on the 1 side, & have been inside both of my doors a couple of times. I've also been inside my bro's '02 to do windows after the cables snapped. But w/. only a RC, I don't have anyhthing to compare it to, as far as latches go.

I see now, I took a punch and hit the pin all the way in. The crimped part leaves less than 1mm past the last plastic hole. So basically there's no way to do this by reusing the pin.
I bet I could just cut this one out and use a bolt and screw to second the latch in??
