Just bought a set of Proxes last week, wanted the Nitto 420's but they don't make them in a 275/45/20. Beware, the Discount Tire near me wanted $200 to mount and balance. I angrily told the guy "give me back my key, you're not ripping me off". NTB did the install for $63, was very careful with the truck and wheels, hand torqued to spec, 100+ mph zero vibration. I think the Discount tire guy just didn't like not selling the tires. He look at some stupid chart behind the counter "yes $200"... **** that guy lol

Do you like the proxes? Discount quoted me $23 for mount, balance, install and any TPMS work required. But that was in the internet we will see later this week when I get there.

Well I've had the Nitto 420s for about 3 weeks now. Got them in 285/50/r20.

The good:
So far they are awesome! Smooth and a ton of grip! I'm seriously impressed with the wet and dry performance. With the previous Bridgestones on the 1-2 shift would spin a bit. Now it dead hooks and is violent! In the wet I can actually get into the throttle and not have the rear sling out instantly.
They hook so good I'm certain the G80 is gonna blow soon. 😂

The bad:
They are a little louder than I hoped and the fronts rub at full lock when on a minor slope.
They also don't look as meaty as I hoped. Next setup with be staggered with a 275/50 up front and probably a 305/50 out back.

Another negative I've noticed is a drop from 15.5mpg average to 13.5-14 mpg. Only change since the sudden drop has been the tires. I guess I should have expected that going from a highway/economy tire to a stickier and wider "performance" tire.

Also I hand calculate my mpg every tank and have put over 1000 miles on the tires so far.

You might try airing them up a little more. I’ve played around allot with air pressure and although it will definitely kill the traction for fuel economy during the winter I usually run about 40psi and it helps pretty noticeably. When I had my insight with the stock engine on Bridgestone re92’s which are the fuel economy tires made for it I ran them at 60psi and the car literally felt like it picked up 10whp from it lol. It was so underpowered you could really feel the difference from reduced rolling resistance.

I actually might try that. MPG varies a lot each tank which is strange to me as my driving habits and routines are almost exact week to week. But I never expected much from a fathoe with a 6.0

I generally notice about 1-2mpg decrease during winter vs summer. My in town gas mileage isn’t great but the last 300 miles I’ve averaged 17.4mpg total which is pretty good for a 5500lbs awd auto 6.0l caddy. I think owning the insight stock really taught me allot about how to make my driving habits the most fuel efficient. Its crazy with that car if you drove it right you could pull 80mpg hwy with it pretty consistently and that was without any hybrid assist since my hybrid battery was garbage when I bought the car and it was bypassed. Worst mileage I ever got was 36mpg during winter in town, lots of traffic and driving it like a normal car.

Wow that's an incredible difference! Maybe I need some time in an insight. 17.4 is pretty dang good especially with the awd and big wheels. I'll probably throw 40psi in mine this week and see what happens.

Yeah dense air and a car that’s shaped like a barn door definitely impacts fuel economy lol. I did pick up a pretty solid 2mpg freeway with lowering it and making a front lip for the truck. The front lip came from a mk3 Jetta and cost me like $10 for one full front lip and one half of another one, they split in the middle but the shape of it followed my Escalade front bumper well and with the running boards the front bumper seemed like it sat too high in my eyes. Allot of the guys with 88-91 civics use the Jetta front lip since they don’t make anything that doesn’t look like trash for those cars new, half the front lips look like a snow plow.

Bumped them up to 40psi and rotated them. Rides fine I'll report any mpg change.
