Default TrailBlazer info

Monday night we ('wife' and I) had to make a trip to San Antonio for a funeral. We took my car cause it gets better gas mileage than the truck and hers has a bad miss in it. Anyways long story short on the way back last night we stopped at CarMax and drove home in a 2002 TrailBlazer with 19k miles. She's tickled pink needless to say.

Anyways, to the point of the post. I want some info on replacing the I6 with a v8. I know it can be done, but what needs to be done for it to be factory like install. I've seen and heard of some guys putting a v8 in the Colorado/Canyon, so it should be the same idea. They have the 5.3 in the EXT version of the TB, so I know it'll fit.

My biggest concern is the PCM. How does the ls1 style PCM integrate with the rest of the truck or does it? Do the motor mounts line right up too? What about accesories?

Any info or direction, maybe to another site, would be great.

BTW, I want the TB to be able to tow my truck and be comfortable doing it.

I'd imagine you could get all the brackets, accessories, engine, and PCM from a wrecked EXT to do the swap. Should look just like the factory.

Also the Buick Ranier (sp?) and 2005 Envoy Denali are the shorter length and come with 5.3s.

I swore their was a limited edition a year or two ago of the TB that was called the LTZ and it came with the 5.3. I remember seeing it in the movie swat when LL cool J was driving it. not sure if that helps.

Like the above post, the Buick Raineer came with a 5.3L. Pop's has one and its cool. The LTZ didn't come with the 5.3L to my knowledge. It was just the top of the line option package. BUT, you can currently in the '04-'05 Trailblazers get the 5.3L option in the EXT Trailblazers, the extended ones. So that would be your best bet for swapping info.

Nathan, check www.car-part.com. Maybe you can find a pull-out w/ wiring harness, ECM, and accy brackets. I don't believe that they are the normal truck accy's.

I checked car parts, they range from 1500-2500, and we all know that the 5.3 isn't worth that much, with or without the accesories and wiring harnesses.

I'm going to the dealership today to pick up a warranty history on it, and get another Chevy key made. I'm gonna see if they have one on the lot with a 5.3 and look it over pretty hard. I'd ultimatly like to get all the stuff to put the v8 in and make it a 6 or something like that. Talk about an ultimate sleeper! Now .. I just have to get passed her to put the v8 in, then I can cam the motor before it goes in.

I did find out that it didn't come with keyless entry though. Does anyone remember who it was that was selling the factory keyless entry systems? I want one on it, but I want it factory to follow my obsession with it came that way.

I think it was coop. I bought an GM alarm system from him and he got it to me right away.
