Default Tranny temp??

I have an 01 Sierra 5.3 w/ LS1 fans and no towing package, just the radiator cooling the tranny. I installed a tranny temp guage and was just wondering what my average temp should be cuz I was thinking about installing a tranny cooler and just wanted to know if it was worth it?? I tow a small boat every now and then. Thanks!!

Guy at the tranny shop told me that I'd be ok up to about 210 from time to time, but I got up to 235 towing once. Put in two tranny coolers and got back down to 165 around town in 95 degree weather, haven't towed with it yet though.

Someone else on the boards here told me 150-180 is pretty ideal.
