I have one of these. Just put the truck up on ramps and used this on a regular floor jack.

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=39152

The also have an actual transmission jack.

I plan to get one of those....how does it work out with a 4L60E? Any idea if it will fit a basic Craftsman 3 ton floor jack?

Transmission type doesn't really matter. and it fits any jack. If you can take that platform off the jack, this just goes in its place. It's designed for your average floor jack.
Just lay the pan on the platform and throw the chain over it to hold it, then let the jack down.
The crank there lets you adjust the angle when your putting it back in, so you can crank it just a little or a lot depending on your need.

I bought the floor mount trans jack, on sale, at HF for $16 more. It has 4 wheel support and easier to move, but is slower in raising and lowering.
