Shouldn't the Cats throw a code if they go bad? How many mile does the fuel filter have on it? When I changed mine it made a big difference, pulled much harder in the upper RPM's. When the cats blewout and clogged in my dads jeep, I noticed before I got to 3rd, it had good throttle response but just cut out if the rpms went up.

Hey Mike... fuel filter is the cheapest, easiest thing to try on your own. Can't hurt to do it, if it still acts up try something else.
