Truck sluggish down low
Howdy, I have a 2003 Silverado 2500hd 4x4 6.0 auto with 4.10s. I recently added a tsp 220r, shorty headers, k&n intake, and a swapped the factory muffler for a di/do magnaflow. Then had it tuned. The truck was quick above 30, off line it had nothing. Stall it up and wouldn't even bark a tire. So tonight just put on a stock set of 243 heads but haven't done tune yet. It feels faster but is still gutless off the line. After all this why do you think it's so gutless down low, Do you think that tuner didn't take off the torque management?

The biggest problem with the gutless feeling you're having is the long first gear of the 4l80e combined with the stock stall, and that the truck is 6000+ lbs I'm assuming. That's a lot of weight to push off the line.

I have a gauge for that

Torque management is only at the shift and chances are he turned off abuse mode so its not a computer thing. He probably didn't spend a whole lot of time there, but like mentioned the biggest problem is you have a tight torque converter so the engine doesn't get into its powerband very quickly. Its also a problem of perception because now the lowend is probably the same, but the high end feels better so it makes the lowend feel even worse.

I was hoping for atleast a little spin. When I had it tuned before the heads, it was tuned for mid grade gas, now I have the 243s I'll be running premium, in wondering if I'll get more out of a retune. And yea I thought a higher stall may help

I know with my lifted truck, with a cam in it it wouldn't spin the tires, but then I put in even a 2600 stall and it would spin without much effort. Aftermarket converter will make a big difference. Depending on how much you tow you don't want to go crazy with it though.
