I believe the cabs are the same. The truck was an 8.1L 3/4 ton but I dont seem to remember how they went about getting the 6 lug wheels on there. I cant find an article anywhere but I know for sure it was in Truckin or SportTruck magazine

I remember this. They took a 3/4 ton and took out the drive-train, and put it in a 1/2 ton chassis, plus swapped the cab, because they said the 8.1l would not fit in a 1/2 ton cab. I thought it was cool at the time, but now I know it was a lot of work for not enough gains.

Either I've always been informed wrong, or they are on some bad ****, the only difference i can think of is the 3/4 -1 tons have a body lift or something along those lines, as they have a spacer between the grill and bumper.

Yep that is exactly as I remember it! For some reason I remember a different truck, specifically white stripes. Can you confirm if the picture with the silverado and the black stripes is the one you remember from the show?

there could be a difference in firewalls between the 1/2 and 3/4 ton cabs for clearance purposes. .02

The 3/4 ton has a taller frame rail which does situate the body a little higher, this is to clear the Allison trans, and for the added strength the truck needs to haul it's specified payload.

^this

The cabs are the same. And they dont have a body lift, the frame is 2 inches taller to clear an Allison.
