Volt meter jump 05 GMC
My 2005 GMC sierra's volt metor is constintly jumping from around the 14 mark to under 10 and above the 14 mark eny one know if thats normal?

It shouldn't move around that much...did you happen to notice any correlation between the efans and or ac compressor kicking on when this happens? Maybe there's an issue there causing an excessive draw. Or the guage could be faulty...you could test actual voltage right at the battery and see what it's doing, or bring it to the dealer since you're covered by a 3/36 warranty and you're an 05 (unless you already put 36K on it! )
Could even be an alternator, wiring, or PCM issue...

Budhayes3 thanks for the reply I have not notice eny diff with the bolt metor when I turn the air on and when the e fans kick on it seems to do this eny time thanks for the tip I think ill go to the dealer I only have 15k on the truck Ill see what thay can come up with

The 05 and up use a different type of charging system. The altenator turns on only when needed, not like the older systems that kept near 14 volts all the time. Your guage should never go to 10 volts though. This is one of the chages for the 1 MPG increase from the other years.
