Default Want to add keyless entry.

I have a 04 Regency RST and for some reason they dont come with keyless entry. Just wondering if anyone knew of the gm part # for the keyless entry kit if one is sold. Or what my best bet is, I really dont want a crappy aftermarket unit. Thanks for the help.

I don't know why you call the aftermarket units "crappy" most of them have a much better working range than the stock system.

I have should have phrased that differently. I meant I dont want to get a crappy aftermarket unit. Not saying all are bad but some are. Anyone that has used a aftermarket unit I would love to hear the feedback and possibly save some $$$ with one.

I get it. Some units are definitely crap.
I have an Autopage with remote start on both of the vehicles in my sig and I think the unit is great. Also anything made by DEI is good stuff. DEI makes Python, Viper, Clifford, and a few others. You will also need an interface module to make it all work properly. I have a GM-SL module in my truck and a bypasskit module in the Grand Am they are both good units. I would avoid the DEI bypass module as I have heard of people having problems with those. I got all of my stuff from ebay and it cost me around $200 for everything I needed to do both vehicles. Self installed of course.

Sounds good, did it cost you $100 each car or $200 each. Thanks

It was about $100 each and that was with remote start so if you just want keyless entry you should be able to get the stuff cheaper. The install should be fairly east for just a keyless entry system. Its more involved with a remote start not overly difficult if you have half a clue about 12 volt wiring, but very time consuming.

you can look at www.bypasskit.com for info on a bypass module. I got mine from ebay cheaper, but they have different modules with differnt features so you can go there and figure out which one you need then look for it on ebay.

Also check out www.the12volt.com it is full of good information.

If your truck came with power windows and locks, you may just be able to get the bcm reprogrammed and buy some key fobs and be good to go. From what I know, if you have power locks on a '03 and up you should be able to do this. It helps a lot being a GM Parts guy. I know we've done a few on cars and it's very easy.
