Default A Warning to anyone who changed their Gauge Cluster

My transmission was acting funny so I had it towed to a local Transmission shop and they called the company with the extended warranty. The warranty company asked how many miles are on the truck so they looked at the cluster and said 11,xxx miles but they forgot to add the miles from my OEM cluster which would have added another 45,xxx miles for a total of around 56,000 miles. My warranty company voided my warranty because I changed my gauge cluster. I even had the sticker with my orginal miles on the driver's side door. I guess I am just venting but I am also warning anyone who has changed the gauge cluster in your truck and has an extended warranty to be aware of what could happen. My suggestion is to bite the bullet and pay somebody to transfer the miles from the old cluster to the new cluster. It would have been worth it in my situation, Now I am hoping that my transmission is not blown.

I put escalade gauges in my truck right after they came on the market. I have never had a problem. I never even had the milage from the stock ones added on to them.

First thing that comes to mind is HELLO CAPT' OBVIOUS!

Messing with your odometer is a federal offense you know?

Just like getting smog checked, you sometimes have to revert back to stock to pass. Whenever your servicing a vehicle with a new cluster, you have to swap the old one back just for servicing.

It seems to me like it wouldn't matter even if you did have your original mileage programmed into the new gauge cluster. Bc if the warranty people want to be dicks about it (and assuredly they do) then they will just argue that you falsely represented your mileage, no matter what you did.

Best bet would be to change back to the stock cluster, then get it programmed, and then warranty work.

In all of my past cars I've been doing this. When I have a scheduled maintenance, I would put the cluster in at least a week in advance. I would get the servicing done, and leave the cluster in for at least a week afterwards.

This way you rack up mileage each time for at least two weeks, and during your next visit no flags are thrown that you are messing with your mileage. If asked, it's your recreational vehicle...

My last car had about 40k missing from the odometer when I sold it. But still had 32k on it when the original cluster went back in.
