Default Water pump Install??

Well, I think that my water pump is taking a crap on me. I have a 2005 CC Z-71 with a 5.3. I have coolant leaking from somehere underneath and best I can tell it is coming from the water pump. I am contemplating changing it myself, but I dont have alot time in the next week to do it. So, should I take it in to a shop, or attempt myself? It looks like you have to take all the brackets of the engine to get to it.

i helped my dad do his in a couple of hours, not that bad. you gotta take off the fan clutch, and serpentine belt, and a couple other things. pretty easy to do...

by the way its probably the gaskets that are leaking, pump is probably still alright.

I cant really tell. The truck has 86,000 on the clock. If I pull it apart, its getting a new gm pump. I have factory electric fans also. I dont want to dive off in it, unless I know I can finish it before I go back to work on friday. Thanks for the info.

Do have to pull the bigger bracket that holds the alternator and power steering pumps. It just looks like a major pain in the @$$

If your asking how hard it is to change a water pump on a ls engine.. Id bring it to the shop...
Takes longer to drain the coolant out the drain plug, then it takes change pump. 6 bolts & four hose clamps

It's not hard at all. Once you get the CAI off, predetermine where you can put the coolant hoses so you loose the least amount of fluid. That's the catch, where's the fluid going to go when you pull the hoses. If your going to pull the pump, some good preventative maintenance would be to replace the stat
