IMO AWD is self defeating for acceleration unless you have a ton of power, can't hook, or don't know how to finesse launch your ride. It's not like these chevy motors come with wicked bottom end. Guess it depends on how extreme you wanna go... Maybe if I lived around snow or had a blower...certainly more drive train loss...

Sounds like the original poster is wanting some decent power and on the street you wont be able to use that unless all 4 tires are pulling. With my old cammed 5.3 on a 150 shot it would light up the tires in 2wd through second gear, after I put the 418 in it would do the same thing off the bottle. In 4hi from a dig it would still spin all four through the intersection, but it was damn fun

And boy are they NICE. The girlfriend just got her new truck yesterday, Sierra 1500 SLE 4x4 with 5.3, 6L80E. Even at low throttle these things are quick! Trying to break it in easy you know!

A TT would be killer.

I still think awd would be a great for a fast little street stuck, in the end its not the greatest for top end, but theres sacrifices for each imo..

I think he meant no bottom end as in no torque down low, like as to be saying LS motors torque isnt the greatest to need awd. From what ive seen these motors do have a great stock bottom end when referring to cap design..

These 6.2L's don't makes peak Tq until 4,500 rpm on the dyno...Certainly not how you would design a stump puller : )
Very strong motor overall and I think the powerband is a great compromise for towing and going fast. I've trapped my 07 Denali at 102 mph in the 1/4 mile with just intake, tune, and muffler. 60' in the 2.0-2.1 range on pizza cutter 18's... I think stock Denali's came with something like 265/70/18's back in 07' when I ran...

Exactly what I meant...I was just comparing to other motors like ol' school Chevy TBI 350's or motors that make peak Tq @ much lower rpm. Nissan Titan motors comes to mind also...Plenty *** off idle but falls on it's face quick.

6.2L is top end, so it's not for me then. A stump puller that burns the hides down low is more fun to me.
I have a 89 c1500 that had a TBI til I blew it up & replaced w/. a 95 LT1. I have a TPI car. And my truck is Gen3. Different approaches by GM.
