What triggers the change oil light ?

Thats good to know. I was going to change my oil myself but have no clue how to reset the code.

Turn key to on position (not running)
Go 0 % throttle to 100 % throttle three times within ten sec of turning key on....

as of now i replace mine with mobil 1 evey 5 k and never get a light, and thats with a lot of flooring it and driving 150 miles a week at 80mph.
my friend said when they would take his brothers corvette out a really beat on in a night or weekend the monitor light would pop on.
