What weight and what oil are you running?

Still running the 5W30 here....but after seeing the article foose04 posted up, that may change next oil change.

10w40 castrol gtx w/ ac delco pf61 filter, ran it in my previous truck (99 rcsb z71 5.3 bolted) from 59,xxx-233,xxx no problems! and they were very hard hard miles!!

Since it has come out I have used Penzoil Platinum 10w30 in all of my LS-based vehicles. 2006 GTO, 2009 and 2011 Silverado.

Should you have to run different weight oil in a non DOD vs. DOD engine?

I believe the DOD lifters are pickier about running the factory spec 5w30 than the non DOD however I could be wrong.
