Wheels and drop??
Well I've priced a set of boyd coddington 20/8 timeless 6s for like 1650 at my door, and the genesis 6 at 1750 to my door. a 275/45 is around 130. the weird thing is that 18s cost nearly as much, but i havent found a 275/285 for less than 180 a pop. it actually works out to be cheaper to get 20s, and i can turn around and sell them for more on ebay if i decide to sell the truck. sportruck sells the same wheels for 2095. anyways what do yall think on wheels, the timeless 6 or genesis, 20s or 18s?
would you go with a hotchkis 2/4 drop (seems like it would be alot easier to install - spring rather than control arm or spindle.)
or go 4/6 djm, OR go with a 2/4 then a Cnotch in the rear with a 2in shackle and 2in djm 2in arm or spindle or something like that. I think going with a 2/4 would be pretty nice. I saw a guy with a truck just like mine in Weatherford at the MX races but he had an autobahn drop (ever heard of them?) looked pretty good at that stance. (btw he said he was getting a turbo....) anyways what would yall do 20s with the 0/2 i have now or 2/4?
I just need some opinions and more advice really.
who knows i might get an fbod since my cousin wants my truck soo bad. but that is very doubtful b/c of insurance.

Re: Wheels and drop??
Hey all you need is a 2 inch hanger for the back since you have the shackles already. Dude 20's would look SWEET but they are heavier than 18's and might hurt your racing performance, also 130 for a 20 inch tire is CHEAP. (At lease compared to what I've seen) Another thing, I heard if you use a 2 inch drop spindle, you won't have to swap out shocks. Either way you're truck will be much sweeter looking, so put up some pics when you finish. Peace

I am telling you what I have been told not what I have learned from experience, so if this is wrong then someone will correct me... I was told a 2 inch spindle will leave the shock just like it is before the drop, but a coil or control arm will make the shock ride 2 inches lower, so it might ride rough or bottom out easier, but you dont HAVE to change it. Hope this is accurate!!!

Re: Wheels and drop??
To start with, you are right about the tire prices on 18's and 20's. The 18 is just not as popular a size as the 20 anymore. In my case, a 20" wheel was not the look I wanted. The 18" is a better setup for my performance preferances. You have heard of guys say they run slower on 20's than 17's or 18's. That has something to do with the heaviest part of the wheel and tire combo is farther out from the source of power. I would go with the Timeless 6 wheels, I like those a lot. I was gonna get some, if it weren't for the 6 week wait when I got my Centerlines.
On the drop, Yes the Hotchkis would be my choise now. I have a 3"spring front, 2"shackle / 2"hanger rear drop. The stock hangers are rivited in and are a PITA to change. Personally, I like the 2 or 3" front drop and a 4" rear for drivability and towing reasons for me. If you can hang with a 4/6 drop, go for it, but it will be a rough ride on city sreets without bags to raise and lower at will.

Re: Wheels and drop??
bags are outa my range.
i want the truck to look good and run very good too. i might go with a tt3000 this summer and a nxwet kit so the weight might not affect me as much.
i was going to run 18/9.5 timeless 6s b/c i found a deal on them but i think that might be too wide for the front.
the boyds are a pertty light rim though right?

Re: Wheels and drop??
I have and always had had stock size front shocks on my 3" drop springs up front. I used stock size shocks on the rear too. I put on some extenders on the rear when I went with airshocks, because to have any support with a 4" drop, they needed to have at least 8 to 10 psi in them which brought the truck up a 1/2" or so.

Re: Wheels and drop??
I have 285/50/18 Yokohama AVS tires on mine. My wheels are 18x8 with a 5" offset. That is the limit you can extend on a 3" drop without rolling the lip or rubbing.
