Where do I find a Quality 6.0 block
Good morning all:
I am now one of the thousands that am going to do 'the swap' to more CI. I would like to get a 6.0 with the potential to be stroked, and can make MUCHO power, w/ or w/o power adder (depends on how I decide to set it up).
First, anyone know of a place to pick up a block in good shape (other than ordering it with an arm/leg expense from GM)? Also, who does machining in DFW that is worth a dang I can trust to do it right? I will probably order LQ9(?) heads from Patriot for the set-up. Any ideas???
Thanks in advance...

I'm eventually going to do this also, not sure if I'll go the built motor route or not. From what research I've done:
For the motor, you can buy them already built as a stroker and such. Tbyrne and FLP sell complete built engines. If you want to do it yourself or start from a complete stock 6.0, this guy on ebay seems to have some good prices and great shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2450218953 I've seen 6.0l blocks go for about $600-$700. I've even heard of folks picking up pulled 6.0l's from the dealer. There's also the junk yards too.
As for the heads, the LQ9's will give you an extra 20 horses or so from the increased compression. I think most 6.0's here stick with the LQ4's so they can run more boost.
Don't forget the tranny

You could do that, but prolly won't get the best price. I would order through "SDPC". The link is to the right on the screen. They are in Lubbock. What are you looking to build? Not sure about DFW, but Houston for sure

Forgot to mention that 408 Stepside 01, has/had a 408 stroker for sale a few months back. Never heard of him selling it. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=107774

Give these guys a call http://www.mmtracing.com/ They have an engine builder named Watt that just finish building a 408 for a board member.

If I can get in excess of 420CI I might just go a little higher compression and not go the blower route. Hey, I figure if they can de-sleeve a 5.7 LS1 and make over 420CI, then a 6.0 block should be a cakewalk, right? I want durable, long lasting motor. I am willing to sacrifice 50hp for durability.
