Where's the coolant leak in my 5.3?

Its gonna be your waterpump gaskets. I had that problem on my 99 silvy and my brother had the same problem in his 00 gmc

I jsut went and looked for those lines you were talking about that go from the heads, and I cant see the ones in the back, but I can see the ones in teh front and the welds that are visible on that look absolutely pathetic. It looks like it's developing a slow leak there on the front too.

I guess since it was a 2000 model, they hadnt quite gotten the QC under control on those welds yet. Wasnt 2000 the first year with the 5.3? Or was it 99?

yes it does, mine has run to the back of the pan and its leaking from the water pump.

I had the water pump leak also. And it took forever to pinpoint because it didn't always leak.

My mom's 2001 did the same thing with the blown left waterpump gasket. It would drip down the power steering, run along some wiring and tubes, and end up on the back of the oil pan. The bolts will probably be all corroded too, so you might pick up a couple of those if you want.
