I used to rock 2wds all the time until my 99 4wd fell into my lap. It can be done. Winter tires make a huge difference. And make sure your locker is in good shape. 2wd is ok, 1wd isn't.... And if you're gonna add weight, make sure it's solid. A minor accident can turn into a VERY bad day for your family if you have loose weight in your bed... I heard some horror stories in autobody school.

thanks guys. ill probably not sell my truck then if i do decide to move back north. ive got too much money into it and planning on more mods so i dont think i could part with it. looks like if i go back ill have a spare set of rims with winter tires for the cold months and weight in the back. maybe pick up a beater 4x4 to fix up eventually too just to drive when the snow gets deep. thanks for the input

If and when you move back north and want weight for the box let me know, new truck a 4x4 so no real need for the traction bag "shurtrax", hanging in tha garage will sell it cheap really does work well with out taking up space in box

Except that that involves a hell of a lot of work since you have to change the frames. Easier to find a used truck

I'm with the others. Throw some weight in it and get some good winter tires. Tires has weight have always been my biggest issue in snow. Hoping to have a good set of winter tires for next winter.

I drove my truck throughout this nasty MN winter with the stock tires from when the truck was new.

I let the snow naturally add weight to the bed of my truck too.
