Default Why do you try to make your truck perform better?

I've been thinking a lot lately about how much quicker my ride would be if it were an F/Y body. I bought my truck mainly as a show vehicle, but got bit by the "performance" bug after that first trip to the track to "see what she'll do." It's snowballed from there.

Did anyone buy their truck with the specific intent to make it perform better? Or, was it more like my situation? Sometimes I wonder why I'm trying to make 2 tons of truck perform like a Z/28.

I do it because people don't expect it. It really used to bother me riding in a friends truck that looked awesome but had a v-6 and a camaro or something pulls on side wanting to play knowing he'll smoke you just to make you look bad. Now I go out looking for them kind of people that wanna show off with their muscle car and wax them with my muscle truck.

When I baught my first truck, performance never crossed my mind. I did not even cared if it had a 4.8 or 5.3 in it. All I wanted was an ext cab with a V8 and a nice sound system with some 20" wheels.
I agree 12sec.5.3, I began modding my truck because people will never think it's fast(relatively speaking ).

I actually bought mine to get away from spending big bucks on Camaro's and my corvettes. That really bit me in the ***. I have now officially given in to my obsession. Could you imagine how bad *** one of my C5's would have been if I had put the kind of money into them that I have this Tahoe??!!

That's the same thing I keep thinking...if only I'd have bought a C5 instead of this truck. I could easily have a low 11 second ride on my hands.

I totally agree with 12sec5.3, When I first bought my truck I wanted 2 things, RCSB 2wd, and a 5.3. I thought a programmer would be enough along with the Magnaflow exhaust that was on it, but I got the bug, and now Ive got a TR220 cam kit sitting in the garage and am looking at getting the Dynatech headers and Nelson tune. It never ends, and its funny when no one expects it.

real men drive trucks, real drive modded trucks. I have always planned on modding my trucks before I even got them, I usually don't make it to far besides wheels tires exhaust and a few performance goodies but not much. t his one has a whole new plan.

YES. After modding my 99 Z71, I was hooked. I already had a pile of new parts waiting to install before I had bought my SS.

Because two tons of truck has better resale value and is much more comfortable to drive.

I used to want to go fast, but after thousands of dollars spent on a combination of three trucks, when I look back on it, I could have a shitload of money sitting in the bank right now. I guess you can say my priorities have changed between 18-23 yrs old
