What does the 54x ECM come in? I seem to remember Speartech doing a retrofit but using a LS2 outta Vette & 6spd. auto. They used a piggyback w/h to make it work. It's not just a simple attach to your 5.3 7 & you're good to go. The CAN creates problems. Otherwise, if I could just attach to my LM7, I'd want to do this. I'm sure others would do the same on Gen3 4.8, 5.3, & 6L. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I really don't care what I upgrade to, long as it handles hp & weight of a truck. I may stay w/4L6xE, only if it's built, i.e. FLT Level 5. A 4L80E seems a very popular conversion. But, I really like the idea of 6 gears for gas mileage & ratio between gears. That leaves a T56 conversion or this, the 6spd. auto. I like to plan in advance. As it sits now, my 04 5.3 truck would be easiest to stay w/ a Level 5 4L6xE. The 80e is slightly more involved but strong like bull. The t56 gets more complex yet fun to drive. I read a post saying u can't keep a clutch in t56 - equipped trucks( weight & pwr don't mix). It sounds like for 6 spd. auto, I'd be swappin motors to make it happen. That drives up cost big time. Manual would be most fun, but not @ expense of durability. Hopefully, others will do a 6 spd. auto retrofit ( GMPP, Nelson,etc.).
