If you're going to be this worried, go buy the Kent Moore flywheel locking tool already.

Wrapping the belt is the easiest way of securing the balancer and it has no ill effect on the other pulleys.

As for pulling on the new balancer, if you don't want to spend the money on DTR's install tool, just go to NAPA and get a grade 10.8 M16x2x120 bolt. Cost is around $6-8 I believe and works great.
