Since I've got a 6.0 in mine do you think it would be best to try and grab everything that is salvagable off the donor vehicle? Dipstick tube, flywheel, converter, harness, etc...
yep. if i was you id grab the driveshaft too...nothing wrong with a 1410 u-joint grab everything you can off of the donor truck so you dont have to chase parts. also be sure to grab the trans cooler lines, they are expensive if you have to buy new.

A year later bump, any reason my '09 would be easier to swap in a 6L80E than your '08? So mad I have one of the few '09s with this pos 4L60E :/

Anyone know the pn for 07 Denali 6l80 2wd harnes? My brothers gonna put a 6l90 in his 2010 cc to replace his 6l80 and i get a free tranny. His trucks got a 5.3 with t70 @ 7 psi and its fun as hell to drive, a lot better than my 3200 stall 4l60 with 3.23 and 32 in tires.

Im hoping thats for 2wd nonflex fuel lol. So other than the easy stuff tranny and harness it should be an easy ordeal. Ill let nelson performance deal with tuning it when its ready considering they are only 10 min away. Oh and i might get the new 3200 stall for the six speed from circle d.

Im digging ur thread up from the after life iamkeniff ... sorry for all the questions in ur inbox also but im trying to get everything i need ready when i start my swap... that vin is a few digits short .. do you have the full 17 digits?
and other question as far as the top bolt/bolts on the tranny is there a certain tool/extension im going to need to get them out of the 4l60e and back in again when installing??? its been many years since i have pulled a tranny out so im thinking ahead before i get stumped..
If anyone else in the meantime wants they can chime in on the top trans bolts being a problem or not? it may not be an issue but seem like i remember top bolts being a PITA and may need certain extension
