08 5.3 stabi/traction blinky cel and LOUD knocking
08' 5.3 128,xxx miles AFM
Well New here, hello all.
Just left tonight for a 10 hour round trip, 30 mins in running 60mph all of a sudden I got the trac/stabiltrak message, then the service stabiltrak message and then cel starts blinking and dinging. (my cel has been on for months/years maybe now.) Bought it new in '07
I've gotten the stabiltrak/ trac message several times before. I also have the issues some have that the cruise will not work at certain times.
Worst part about all of this is the truck seems a little down on power and is ticking/knocking really bad. Oil pressure was around 40 psi at idle. Was about a quart low.
I shut it down restarted all msgs go away, stabil/trac normal. Get up to speed 65-70 everything goes crazy again.
Any ideas?

Took it in to the local gm dealer, it through out "8" codes, several which were running lean in different cylinders or somthing. Don't remember what the others were. I was more concerned when he told me the bigger problem lies with 'sticky' lifters.
I probably don't keep up with oil changes as much as I should. I do though use the oil meter life and I only run synthetics. Doesn't say much tho if the last place to change the oil didn't put enough in or it burnt off 2 quarts since the Oct. 20 of this year....

I guess it may be more of a tic .. tic .. tic, lol all I know its making noise that it should not. The gm dealer I took it to this morning offered me $9000 on trade. I'm the original owner 127,000 miles 20" wheels nitto mud grappler 75% tread.
Went 15 miles away to another dealer they offered me $11k on it, 11.5 if I bought a Chevy instead a gmc.
Never mind the work in progess gt, have since upgraded to a Shelby GT500

If you haven't kept up with oil changes the tick sound is probably a sticky/dirty lifter. I've used seafoam in the oil to clean the inside of the engine. I'd do this with fresh clean dino oil and a good oil filter for 100-200 miles and change the oil again. With fresh clean oil, add 1/2 qt of marvell mystery oil. Do not overfill. I'd clean the top end of the engine with seafoam as well as another can in the gas tank.
1 can in the oil/substituted for a qt of oil
1 can through a vacuum line (search the forum for instructions)
