08 RCSB 4x4 VS. 08 ECSB 4x4

Seems you have similiar themes coming thru on both of the threads that pertain to what u want to do.
How bout this? And this is an estimated guess.
How much additional weight by adding 4wd over 2wd? I think 400# is about right, as someone said.
Go from a RCSB to a ECSB. Add more weight, say 2-400# more.
Say it's a tossup betw. a RCSB 2wd & a ECSB 4wd.
Now, if it's ETs your after...I'll let you do the math. That's some mods just to overcome all that weight. Good luck w/ whatever route you go.

Not married, no kids, have a g/f but not getting married anytime soon. I've basically decide on RCSB, (I know I've bounced back and forth about 3 times), and now I'm debating even getting 4wd. I had a 1990 GMC Sierra, 5.7L 2wd, and that was okay in the winter, not great, but okay. I've just been kind of figuring as I get older I'll like the 4wd for the MI winters. Who knows now...

I dont see the draw to reg cabs. Have your cake and eat it too. Go fast WITH room. Having an ext. cab now, I wont get any less than a crew cab next time. I don't think you mentioned budget, but if it's flexible I would go with a 6.0, ext. cab. 3.73s with the 6 speed auto. Sweet combo.

I couldn't really tell you about the gas mileage on a NNBS, but I have an NBS ECSB w/ high compression 6.0 and 4.10s and it gets really bad gas mileage. I now know what people say with the saying "you can literally see the gas gauge moving." With the 3.42s out back I was getting really good gas mileage on the highway (22-23) and a constant 12.5 in the city. With the 4.10s mileage went down to 19 on the highway (65 cruise) and up to about 13.5 in the city. And those figures are taking it easy, no WOT. The new 6 speed auto will get you better gas mileage. Overall I'd say the 6.0 EC will get significantly worse gas mileage than the 5.3 reg cab.

rcsb 4x4
I just bought a rcsb 4wd 5.3 L that i am planning on modding. I bought a cai, ud pulley, and a circle d converter that i am planning on installing on it this weekend and a tune. I will definently take it out to the track this weekend if the weather permits and i will keep you posted
