Default 08 Tuning Specs

I have an 08 RCSB 4.8L with 4L60E tranny, Airaid CAI, Flowmaster cat backs, a Specter tbs, and am about to run Pacesetter LTs and OFY. I just got a Diablo Trinity programmer and am running the base diablo performance tune. My question is whats some basics on max end tuning parameters, mainly WOT rev limit. I have tow mode rev limit set to 6100 and it clearly makes more power than standard 5600, but whats the safe max to be able to run a street race or two a week? I plan on doing the high speed tuning on tow mode to nlt put too mmuch wear and tear on the truck. Are there any other tricks I can pull on my tune to get max power?

Well of course, but I'm trying to find the actual redline range for my truck and where I can set my rev max without blowing my motor right there.

Rev until you hear the valves tapping the pistons, then back off a hair.

Honestly, it varies. A fresh motor might rev to 7300 rpm without issue, and a tired motor might have valve float at 5500 rpm. I had a 6500 redline on my 5.3 s-10, and it was a nice compromise between stock and batsh!t crazy.

Main thing with the 4L60 is NOT to over rev it, they take considerable power, but do NOT like excessive RPM especially on the 2-3 shift iirc cant go over 6K RPM or so, but search that info out over at tech to verify I cant recall which shift is the killer.

Stock cam isnt going to make any power past 6k anyways. You can bump the timing up if your running premium fuel.

Also lower your torque management down to 40 or 30% or so. That alone will wake it right up

I'd have to check the tune I had on my 08 to be sure, but I think I was shifting at 6100, cut off at 6300. zero torque management.

Haha. I've been through my share of 4l60's. In my 00 I think I went through 6 before I upgraded to flt stage 5. Wasn't long after I went through it that I lost the truck.
My 08 had a 4.8 so I wasn't worried about it. It went out pulling a light aluminum boat while passing someone.
Did shift kit and both servos in my 99 4.8 and beat the **** out of it and it never gave me any problems. All three trucks had zero tq management
