I've heard that you lose mpg cause without the correct heat in the cylinder it doesn't combust the gas good enough. Some sht like that.

Chad, like you said, you have a lead foot anyways. So why are you worried about gas mileage. Go buy a prius if you want that. I've had my 160 in my truck for around 8 months now and had zero problems. Runs around 180-185 hot or cold outside.

I didn't know you had a 160 stat in the new truck.

The ONLY reason that modern motors run so hot from the factory is for emissions compliance, to help burn off all the bad stuff and to get the catalytic converters fired up sooner. The oil viscosity has nothing to do with it, and the combustion temps are still the same within the cylinder. A 160* or 180* stat is good stuff
