No way! Really??? I might have considered that too. What the hell??? GM really dropped the ball on their advertising. I only considered the Silverado and the Sierra because they were the only trucks getting the 6.2 with 4x4. I actually complained because there is no logical reason not to offer the 6.2 in every fullsize GM, purely based on the fact that it will drop right into place on every model with a 5.3. What a crock. I can't see why they would discontinue an option like that; I really don't think they would lose any money on it.

Does everyone think the new 6 speed tranny is a lot nicer than the 4 speed?

No 6.2 Avalanche is the US - that was for Canada only. Largest engine for the NNBS Avalanche was the L76 6.0 and that ended with the 2009 model year.

IMHO, stay away from 07 and 08's...new body style changes, seems to have plenty of issues in those years. I'd take the 6 speed for sure..09 and up.
