Alright guys I'm pretty new to this forum but i have a 2009 gmc sierra z71 cc lookin to do some mods to the truck has the 6speed trans with a bulky dog intake and exhaust problem is its lifted but I'm determined to make it quick just some ideas I know I can throw cam and all but is it gonna be satisfying like I want or should I just throw a 6.2 n it lookin to break high 13s low 14 without $10000 n the truck lol can text me at 337-692-6727 thx

cam it, stall it, headers.

 

So keep the 5.3 and just build it also about to install gears 4:10 front and rear

 

Put the 5.3 in a creek. Put in a 6.2 and you will have long term reliability and awesome power that aftermarket parts will never have and you will also get better mileage in the long run. By the time you are done modding the hell out of the 5.3 you will have more money invested than what a 6.2 would have cost and it still wont run as good or be as long run reliable as 6.2

 

I am a NHT 6.2 owner so kinda biased. Modded 5.3 cant touch it and it doesn't have the DOD crap that 5.3's are notorious for having constant trouble with.
