I've got the 4 speed in my 07 CC 5.3 truck and at 55K miles it shifts into 2nd a bit odd when it's cold but its under powertrain warranty until the summer. All it's got is a cold air kit and muffler, I dont think the warranty is in jeopardy just from those minor mods. I've towed plenty of weight with this thing for long distances and temps are always in check at 170ish with stock cooling parts. Overall I've been more pleased with this one than any of them so far.
To the OP, you won't get far with a cam and tune with a warranty. That's one of the main reasons mine is staying basically stock until the warranty is gone.

Plain stock is boring.... Lol I have had mine a little over 3 months. And it's full bolt on, cam, geared, and stalled and built trans here in a few days lol.... The warranty is not just voided in one hit... The mods have to directly cause a problem for it not to be honored for a breakage. The dealer tech I was talking to originally said your cam could not have caused a trans failure, so there for its ok.... But on the other hand he said if the tune altered the tcm then I would have a problem ... But I didn't want the same stock trans in it again.

I've done the modded to the sky thing on other trucks.... And for me it's nice knowing if it takes a dump I'm not getting under it. My wife drives it 99% so stock is fine. I'm a dealer tech too btw I know full well what affects what. Dealers try to warranty what they can just to get the work in the shop but on the otherhand, if they're caught repairing things that shouldn't be, the dealer ends up with their *** in a crack. I'd think the tuning and aftermarket converter would be plenty to void a trans warranty where I am.

my original trans started slipping bad at WOT around 18k miles. my performabuilt lvl2 went in at around 26k miles, it blew after 4k miles (broken stock output shaft). now on my second performabuilt unit (had them make it a level 1 this time), and its doing somewhat ok after 5k miles.
i did contact the dealer about my trans when it was nearly dead, and they wanted to have me come in so they could scan the truck for codes. since i had already got a tune (not tuned anymore), i decided not to do that, and just bought a built trans instead.
i had the same idea you did. why put in another stock trans thats just going to break? i have the chance to upgrade it to something that won't.
my only mods are exhaust, and a 2500 stall. if i could break a built 60e with that, i can't even imagine what your truck will do.

2007.5 -2009.5, 5.3 came with 4l60e GM changed the 5.3 to 6 speed while the 4.8 still gets them in 2009.5 + confusing I know.
I've seen stock engines blowing tranny, it's all about how do you treat it. Not to thread HJ, anyone ever did a manual coversion on NNBS?
GL on the fix.

Chris at HPtuners had to make a new beta for me just to get the damn thing to rev higher than 4000 RPM for instance.
When it comes to swaps these gen IV's are not nearly as cooperative. The gen III stuff was cake though
