I say yes on the 6.2.. Get it
You sound like you like the throttle a lot I've been taking it easy to try to drive as long as possible on a tank. I could get single digits if I hit the go pedal more often

I have about 2k miles on my new 6.2L now.

I see regularly 11.5-13mpg all city, and that's using the remote start cause winter has sucked. Highway I've gotten 17-18mpg at 70-75.

The power is great, I haven't changed anything yet and I still love the truck.

I vote 6.2L

I was in the same boat- see my thread Need Some Advice. I was out to get a 5.3 CC, and they were all over. Then I was on a mission to get a 6.2, I was well aware of the economy differences as I had a 5.3 at the time and had justt spent the day in Mom's Esky(6.2). Well I got the 6.2 and am happy I did- with NHT(3.73's) it has a little more zing than Mom's Esky(3.42's) and doesn't feel labored at all. I remember up the slight grade here out of Eldorado my old 5.3 felt like it was working and working, granted a 120,000 mile truck, but it was noticeable. Taking it easyon the highway I've nipped at 19MPG. Really glad I wen't with the 6.2, ya really can have yer cake and eat it, too with this masterpeice.................

You have the power to pull the truck...and a 6 speed.

The extra 120 ponies make for good fuel economy

From what I can read on here a good stock mpg number is 11-13 with the 6.2 and 6speed. I assume I can get 15mpg with the 5.3l, 6sp, and 3.42(since you can not get 3.73s with this setup).

I pull small loads (-2500lbs) regularly, and I pull a 7,000lb boat often in the summer. I know both trucks will get around 10 or less pulling, that part does not really worry me. I know the 5.3l has the ***** to pull my truck but will not pull it as good as the 6.2 obviously. Both trucks are identical trucks except drivetrain. I will be paying about 1,800 for the 6.2l, the 5.3l does have the information center thing in the dash, but I am pretty sure that was the only thing extra it had.

Can you guys give me some insight on some situations I may need to know? I would like to tune either truck, I have had a 5.3l to the max before so I know what its capability is. How is the 6.2l with issues and how about the 6sp? I will want to level it out and put a bigger tire and with warranty issues I do not want to have common problems and be negated my warranty for having a tune.

Thanks
First I will say that the 5.3l/6speed 4x4 does have the option of 3.73 if you want them (100$ option)

Second would be the MPG concern, I know a few people that are pulling 19+mpg on the highway after you slap a tune on the 6.2's, it really makes a difference, but your going to have to run 91+ octane.

As far as the tune goes and the warranty, your taking a risk. I haven't heard of a dealer giving someone **** for to many flashes on the Computer, but im sure they could if they wanted.

Can someone explain the difference in the 6l80e and 6l90e? And which one will each of these trucks have?

And no, you can not get 3.73's with the 5.3l.

About 20ft-lbs of torque capacity...the 90 will handle more power

The 6.2 usually comes with the 90 in the Crew cabs...the 5.3 comes with the 80.

FYI, all 6-speed 1500s are 6L80E, no matter what. I have the same trans as a guy at work and we both have 2011 Silverado 1500 4x4 CCSB; the only difference is that his has the 5.3 and mine has the 6.2.

I was told by the dealership that all the CCSB 6.2L they sell comes with the 90...could be another Canadian thing though...We do get some "different" packages up here for vehicles...

They apparently have them in the burbs, Yukons, Esclades and CC Silverado/Sierra and Denali's...And this came from a pretty knowledgeable guy there.

IDK???

I have a 2010 Z71 LTZ ExCab....I have 3.42's with the 5.3 and 80E...but I asked for them, I don't know what else is out there.
