2011 5.3 6spd vs 6.2 6 spd

The build your own on the website does not allow the 5.3l and 3.73 option. It will allow you to click 3.73 but then it kicks you back to the 6.2l. Also I had the dealer try, and they said no also.

He's not likely paying cash for a $40K truck either...so really his 1800 bucks is a savings of about 30 bucks...thats the extra monthly payment for the 1800 in options.

The 6.2l does have hydro boost? I did not know this, and yeah I am aware of the other options the NHT gives, which I like. I know the 10 bolt is weak and I have never been a fan of it or the 4l60e in the 1/2 ton trucks. I have another toy to go fast, this truck will not see a turbo!
The big thing holding me back though is this 6.2l getting 11mpg around town. I feel pretty confident that 5.3l will get 14-15 no matter how bad I drive it. And the 6.2l likes premium over 87.

just an FYI- i got my 2010 crew, black 4x2 loaded with the chrome rim and accent package for $28,000. that was GM cost, lowest available level. so when negotiating keep that in mind. i have a relative that gets the deals. the truck was $42,500 on the lot.

I like my 5.3L/6L80E...but I do wish I had the extra hundred ponies of the 6.2L, and if I could have had it for 1800 and not 18K I would have. The only thing they had on the lot when I got my truck with the 6.2 was a Denali.
That being said...the 5.3 will do everything you want it to...
Remember back in the day, when you wanted a 1/2 ton truck you got it with a 200hp(maybe) 350....than if you wanted it for towing you got a 1 ton that came with a 200hp 350...the only difference (drivetrain) was it had a 14B and bigger gears....and maybe a standard trans...but likely a turbo 350/400
I think a 300HP engine with 3.42 gears (between the 1st gear in the 6L80 and the 3.42 rear you have the same ratio as a 4L60E 1st and a 4.10 rear) you can pull just about anything you need to. If you can't you may want to upgrade to a diesel....My truck is rated to tow 9600lbs (Z71, ExCab, tow package and 3.42) I wouldn't want to put much more than that on a 1/2 ton truck man.

Can anyone verify if the 6.2l does in fact have hydro boost? That would be a deal sealer to me. The 5.3l get s very mushy brake pedal after a few miles, been there and done that. I have been around the block a few times with a 5.3l 4 speed truck, I feel certain I know just about everything there is on the genIII trucks. I just haven't been around this newer generation enough to know all of the new things.
I get GM supplier price and am pretty happy with the deal I have on the table for both trucks.
Yeah, when I purchased my 2009 dodge ram 5.9 hemi I really wanted the 6.2l because I was stepping down from a diesel. And the 6.2l with the 6speed is very nice, and the 6 speed was not an option then for the 5.3l, and the only way i could get the 6.2 was in the denali truck. I can't afford a denali, haha! I got my fully loaded ram for like
