2011 5.3L sliverado oil pressure. is it low? video inside
I just picked up a 2011 Silverado Crew Cab 5.3L 2wd LT
I had a 08 before that and I never really noticed this on that truck
but the new one 400 miles on it idles when cold at 40psi and when warm 20-25psi and when driving its at 40psi under throttle but cruising it stays right at 35ish psi
here is a video
I searched and did find that a lot of other people are saying the same thing, I wanted to get your opinion and see if others with 2011 or 2012 trucks have noticed the same thing
thanks

Glad I got a 100k powertrain warranty on my 2011... You should hear the lifters at start up, it sounds like a solid lifter cam out of adjustment.
My oil pressure it steady at 40 psi anything above idle and just below it at idle though.

Something to think about is that at 70 or just crusing around with the 6l80 and in my case 308 gears....the rpm's are "lower" than with my last truck with the 4l60e.... I'm runing just over 1500 rpm's at 70 in 6th gear. In 5th gear I'm running just over 2000 rpm and the oil pressure is steady over 40 psi. However, this doesn't explain the oil pressure at idle???

My 2010 did the same thing. It didn't really bother me ever to be honest.
If it really eats at your, the first thing to do is check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge just to be certain that the dash gauge isn't just incorrect. Bring it in for low oil pressure so you have a record with the dealer as well in case it becomes an issue.

My 6.2 does the exact same thing and always has. My oil pressure sits at the same spot when warm @ idle. I did do 4qts of 5W-30 and 2qts of 10W-30 and that raised it a bit. (I ran my 408 GTO with that same oil mix for over 4 years with a procharger @ 640rwhp and never had one problem)

Seems consensus is your pressure should be considered “normal.”
FWIW, my ’11 5.3 LMG averages ~25 psi during hot idle and ~60 above 3000 rpm at 70° ambient.
Somewhat curiously, pressure increased slightly after dumping the factory fill (at 1000 miles) for fresh 5W-30 Mobil 1 and another PF48.
