I was just reading a parts list and from what read you need a DOD kit: LS7 lifters, GM valley cover, Head gaskets and i guess the push rods are the same lenth so thats up to you about spending the $$$ on hardened ones. But as long as your doing a cam you might as well since you will need stronger springs. And if you pick a samller style cam with good low end and not too high of a lift it will be streetable esp. with a good tune.
Anyways i forget what else is included in the kit So just do a search on D.O.D. KIT
And when you choose a cam make sure you talk to some members with similar style cams and similar uses of their trucks. And you'll be more than happy with how much your truck wakes up esp. with LT headers.

From everything you have posted you need to throw a blower on it like the one from magnacharger and be done with it. Unfortunately in the performance world you vary rarely can have your cake and eat it too. A blower can give you power with mileage and reliability. A corsa exhaust system will be loud as hell at WOT and quiet at cruise. Id really like to see what an LT/ORY setup and the stock catback sounds like. Theyre plenty big enough to flow well and I bet sound awesome.
Patrick G can tune the VVT setups well but he is in TX, so it would require you buying EFI Live or the autocal for him to really be able to dial in your VVT tune. My personal opinion is if you have the time to tune it yourself or have a knowledgeable tuner then you should keep the VVT. For the few graphs and posts Ive seen of the results from someone who knows what theyre doing tuning wise the results are quite phenominal. This is the main reason(along with the 6.2/6L80e combo) I will be looking to get a Denali within in the next year to two years once I find the one that matches my wants.

Bar none you start throwing mods at one especially internal and you will have a chunk of cash invested. I've done cams headers etc on past trucks owned all with great results. This go round on my 6.2 I'm going to save the cash and drop a blower on it and call it day. I'm going to do a nice little tune on it to get me by in the interim.
