Default 2013 4.3 V6 to L96 Swap

New to the site but have been searching for some information for a while now.

Just bought a 2013 RCSB with the 4.3 V6 and 4L60E. Truck only has 6,000 original miles but i cant deal with the V6. Found a 2017 L96 from an express van and trying to decide what transmission should I do. Really want the light weight and size of the 4L60E, can i upgrade it enough to put to the back of the L96 with a cam and bolt ons? Cant find too much information on this swap for GMT900.

Everything i'm reading is for older trucks so any help on exactly what i will need would be very appreciative.

Thanks

You could build up the 4L60e to better handle a cammed 6.0, people do it all the time.

Your other option is to find a complete 6.0/6L90e pull out and use that.

But this is where things may get messy. As far as I am aware all of the heavy duty trucks/vans after 2011 used a newer E78 computer. You couldn't use that in your half ton because it was never paired with a 4L60e. So using an older computer/harness would be required. Like something from a very similar year 5.3 truck because it would be nearly a complete match with all the sensors/plugs on the 6.0. And the 5.3 harness from a similar year already controlled a 6L80e which is just a lighter duty 6L90e.

The rest is all programming and tuning that would have to be done anyway for a swap like this.

i was going to do this swap on my 04 rcsb. my truck came with a 4.8. The L96 i got also came from a van. I pulled the plug on the 6L80 sawp because i didnt have the ecu for it and i would have to use something like this: GM 6L45E 6L50E 6L80E 6L90E TCM2650 transmission controller harness which would only add to the cost of my build. I would also need a new drive shaft, trans mount, converter, and, mod my tunnel. All of this is just for the trans.

As FFDP mentioned, the engine computer will also be needed since the trans computer and engine computer communicate with each other.

Just use the e38 your truck has in it... that e78 is an e78a being from a 17 and it's a boat anchor.

4.3's use a E37 computer but the tables look damn near the exact same as a E38.

Maybe you can write a E38 program into it, or maybe it will brick.
