I have a 2007 Vmax crew cab 4x4 with 4:10's and have average a best of 17.1 mpg on a all highway trip at about 60-65 mph. An average road trip for me in the summer is 15.5-16.1 mpg depending on wind and speeds (above 65mph uses noticably more fuel). An average highway/city tank of gas is usually 13.5-14mpg.

?Ok, the girl wants to ask a question...what size wheels? If this is your DD and your sticking with 18's, there's really no need to go with the 4.10's. I have 20's and the 4.10 Yukons, and TruTrac.

In my last truck, a 99 1500 ecsb z71 i had 3.73 with a 265 70 17 tire, i put 4.10 in it and it got a little better mileage especially in the city, the hwy was about .5 better. I think it may help a bit with heavy 4wd ec or cc trucks, gets moving easier.

wouldn't mind hearing how it went.. im in the market for some gears, looking at 4.10s or 4.56s.. 4.56s might be a little too high, but the 4.10s just wondering if they're worth the hassle????
I'm looking more for performance then anything else.. tire is an almost stock 32" tall

My fuel economy hasn't improved much, still 16-17 on the highway at 60-70mph. 3.73's and stock 17's. My Father ordered an 08 and wanted a VMAX but that required 4.10's so he settled for a 5.3 w/3.73's.

I bought the '08 Vmax with 3.73's. to the poster above, you can get a VMax with 3.73's. I have tuned mine for all its worth, and I am only able to get 17-18 mpg on the freeway with AFM. I have a thread where I've outlined the tuning, and what my results have been.
