35w HID in Fog Lights...anybody having issues??
Hey guys;
Just checking to see if anyone has melted a NNBS Silverado trucks fog light housing with the 35w HID. Going with a the new DDM 4300k unit in the 5202 bulb but just want to make sure it's not getting to hot before I order it.
Thanks!

I soldered and heat shrinked mine in. I've been running the DDM 35w fogs in 3000K for about 9 months. I do have a bad ballast though, just haven't filled out the paperwork to get it replaced. No signs of heat damage in the housings though. The 25w options were hard to find and pricey when you did find them.

I have kits in my fogs and low beams. 55W 5K low beams and 35W 5K fogs. I broke a tab on a bulb in the fog light and it cocked in the bore causing it to melt the hell out of the housing. I installed the same setup in my dads 09 silverado and he loves em. I have gone through two bad ballasts in 2 years and I just burned another fog light bulb. The lead wire that goes to the top of the bulb looks like it arced and broke probably from defect. 20 bucks for a new pair! I live in Illinois so the heavy snow has caused me to have to probably replace the ballasts for the fogs. When I do, I will seal the new ones and spray paint them then seal in a large heat shrink bag. Purely so I can stop crawling under the truck and re-work them.

I also run DDM 35w 5k in my fogs. I tapped the wire and soldered in the fog lite wire so I could retain the stock plug and wiring. I also run DDM 55w 5k in the high beams, no issues with either one. I added a relay and tapped the fog and high beam wires where they exit the fuse box so the fogs come on with the highs. I love it, stock low beam so know one is wiser, but hit the switch and it's damn near daylight out.
