My buddy has a 2003 4.8 extended cab, I have an 08 5.3 extended cab. His truck has a tune, other wise stock, mine is dead stock. He really thinks his 4.8 is faster which I don't think it is. In a hypothetical drag race from a dig who would win? Any 1/4 miles times or dyno graphs to back it up would be nice.

 

Well the GMt-900s do weigh more so that might negate your power difference. Also what is your rear gearing? I don't really know, you should just line em up and find out.

 

Mine would embarrass your stock truck.

 

lol... 4.8 with a good tune runs pretty damn hard.. get a tune on your first imo!!! then see.

 

The tune is terrible on these things far as torque management, I would like to do a cold air, tune and a catback but this is my work truck so I don't really want to mess with it all to much. My truck has 3.42s in it.

if its a tune only 4.8, from a dead stop you will take him hands down. An 03 4.8 with tune would prob run high 15s best. My brother ran a 15.2 with just an intake on his 08 4 door 5.3 with stock 17s so on stock wheels youd be a low 15 also. But if yall roll race from a 30 it will be alot closer race. Dont get your panties in a wad. A tuned 4.8 runs good, you are counting it out from the get go, you asked for opinions on an outcome, I gave you an opinion. He will beat you if his tune is done right.
