"Direct fit" no but relatively easy to swap yes. If you want a direct fit then you really need to get the entire dash harness, BCM, gauge cluster, HVAC system, and all nec console bitties ets. Then you just swap it all in and presto.
But that is a lot of work where you can swap in the engine/trans with the ECM and TCM and you should be able to connect your BCM and gauges etc to the ECM without too much grief. Either way though its a fair bit of work and weeding through wires

I saw sum one did a write up on switching to the 6speed.. is that what I would have to do even tho I'm buying the motor with harness and transmission together?

Its not that hard. What you really have to pay attention to is the year of the harness, bc that will determine how hard the swap will be as far as changing the pin out for the sensors. The bcm doesnt care what motor you run, nor what harness it has. The bcm will not tell the gauge cluster that you have a 6spd so you will continue to have the P R N D 3 2 1 which is no big deal to me. Also the bcm will not tell the tcm to have the TUTD feature which didnt matter to me either bc i messed with the tow/haul button to do what i wanted.
Your ecm will tell the tcm what to do so no need to swap ecms unless you fry it, then itd be easier to program a denali program into the ecm/tcm for tuning purposes but then you'll have to relicense that ecm an tcm bc the operating system an model will change.
Pm if you have any questions, go through my build thread an make sure you have everything i list to buy or youll be wasting time an more money chasing the parts down or buying GM parts
