6.2 Intake Airbox Comparisons ? - Aftermarket vs. OEM w/K&N filter
Does anyone have any hard data (track times/mph or dyno) or hell even butt dyno opinions on whether the aftermarket K&N FIPK or other airbox replacements actually improve power over just the OEM setup? Also, did anyone actually notice a gain with just a K&N Filter replacement or was it just in your head?
I don't want to drop 300 bucks if it isn't going to improve power and mileage. I am planning on just doing the Airbox replacement or Filter replacement and a 3.5" electric cutout. Tune will come after warranty is out.
Thanks!

the tune isnt hidden but IF you didnt blow the motor up then there is no need for them to dig too deep.
the exhaust is 3.5 yes, but im saying for the intake tube run a 4" aluminum tube into your stock box. mine is custom and runs behind the front bumper and it never gets higher than 10* over outside air in the middle of the summer

my friend has a 2010 6.2 bout a month ago took his knn to the track to swap it inbetween runs, the knn actually slowed the truck down. not sure how others will do. he went from 14.25 to a 14.32 by putting a knn kit on it same night same lauch. took it off and went 14.26 with factory stuff. during the summer time the iat goes thru the roof. then again most of the issues would prob go away with a tune.

Put a airaid tube on it and cut a 3 inch hole in the bottom. Also cut the side out where it goes in the fender. Thats how the GMPP one is done. I also cut the fender part out more too. Open air filter under the hood just going to suck hot air and kill the power. And a aftermarket box isnt going to get you much more if any then a stock one that you cut and save 150 bucks
