I'll happily take that kind of trip mileage, in exchange for the fun of the 6.2 and 3.73 gears. It's a decision I made before I signed on the dotted line, and I'm damn happy with it. I may screw around and try a longer trip at lower speed just to see how good it can do, but even then it'll be hard to keep my heavy right foot under control.

Thanks for the report, rj!

sounds pretty damn good considering the gears tires level and idling some! how was the trip? 2500 miles without being turned off sounds crazy. how long did that take?

46 hours. Stopped in Tulsa to visit a friend for a few hours though, so it would have been less. We took 46.5 hours on the return trip, but stopped and visited in Evansville, Indiana for a couple hours as well as a couple hour nap in a hotel parking lot in New Mexico.

Oh I forgot; it got turned off for an hour or two in Tulsa while we visited. But other than that, it was running the whole time to keep the truck cool for the dogs.

Wow, that really is a lot of idling! It must have had a hell of an impact on your trip mileage - zero mpg for all those gallons. Nice to have your dogs survive, though!

It wasn't as big of an impact as you would think, because there were so many hours and miles traveled to offset it. The highest average we got was high 16s, and by the time we got there is was down to 15.8; that's including variations in speed and such as well as idling. I would leave the truck idling for 30 minutes and come back and the average wouldn't even change at all, not even .1 mpg. It was ridiculous.

That is surprising - but cool! Good to know.

i have noticed that idling really has no effect on my truck. it's only real factor is how hard you press the go pedal and how often. good to hear the truck did so well on the trip. it almost sounds like it could be commercial worthy! you should write them a testimonial letter. never know you might see it played on a commercial one day.

Yeah but I'm tuned so it's kind of a compromised testimonial I'm sure satisfied though
