So first I installed my catback (borla xr1) and was all fine....loud but fine. A few days later I installed my Airaid intake tube and now under load, mid rpm range I get not so much a rattling noise but like a buzzing sound coming from either my dash on pass side or somewhere in that area. Wtf, stock airbox so it's not that, how could just a intake tube cause this? Anyone else have stupid **** like this happen?

It's a MBRP 3" catback but with a xr1 instead of there muffler. Everything was fine until I put on the intake tube a week later. Buddy and I kinda narrowed it down to the fender area, like the fender is rattling on this brand new pos. Maybe I'm just hitting the perfect harmonics to make **** rattle?

Well we took the air box lid an flipped it upside down and laid the filter on top and reved it and it wasn't there. Maybe it's sucking too much air through the stock air box inlet hole making a ruckus? Gonna cut a 4" hole on the bottom of the box so it can suck air in from the bottom too n see what happens

Ok so buzz is almost gone, only does it at 4000+ rpms very faintly. Cut bottom of air box and a 4.5" hole on side behind headlight and now it's basically gone unless I beat the **** outta the truck! But no more mid rpm buzz. Im pretty sure it's literally sucking the fender in making it flex n buzz. I had my ear on the fender right by the air box while my buddy reved it and u can feel the fender flex in. So with the added holes it takes away the sucking from the fender holes and gets it from other holes. So I guess this motor REALLY sucks air hard. Here's my air box now...

my airbox looks similiar more like swiss cheese haha... im not to sure what my problem is with my truck but it might be the mass amounts of odds and ends in my glove boxs lol but i do hear the sound your hearing all thru the rpm range but mostly 1500-2000 but someone had told me it was my vent on the passenger side of dash so hell idk...

It's "harmonic resonance" causing the vibrations. GM didn't install that goofy intake tube with all of those silencing chambers, for no reason. It was specifically to dampen those noises. By opening the airbox more, you changed the frequency a bit more, and it appears it was for the better.
Keep in mind, you will now be sucking in hot air from the engine compartment. It was setup to pull cooler air from the fender.
