Default anyone ever tried to sump a stock tank? would this work?

so I was talking to a buddy who was big in to diesels a while back and we were talking about plans for my truck and I mentioned that I wish someone made an aluminum sumped tank like we use to have for the f-bodies back in the day and he mentioned alligator performance's no drop tank sumps. I will post the link below, but do you guys think this thing would work for an efi setup? I know for a diesel and gravity feed it would suffice, but for our high pressure systems would this be a safe option? what do you guys think?

ADP Diesel Fuel Sump NO TANK DROP REQUIRED!

I don't see why you couldn't on your truck. A lot of people in the mustang world sump the factory 03/04 cobra tanks. I went to an aluminum one but a lot just sump their factory one.

I sump'd my Escalade with a Hellmann sump feeding an external A1000. Waste of time and money.

First issue was if I ran the tank below 1/4 and came to a fast stop or moderate acceleration off the line the pump would cavitate.

Second issue and the one the really ticked me off was I couldn't drive the vehicle for more than an hour at a half of tank of fuel without vapor locking. That was even with using the voltage controller.

After sitting on the side of the road a couple of times waiting for the fuel to cool back down I yanked everything out and went with a dual in tank setup. No vapor lock issues but it will still lose pressure launching off the line with less than 1/4 tank.

With that said maybe a different pump that wasn't rated at 600 lb's/hr you could have better results with the vapor locking but with no baffling in the tank the potential for cavitation will always be there.

I'd sump mine in a heartbeat and run a big external pump if my rear wasn't dropped 8 inches.

It's fine to sump it it will work but I would run the factory pump in the bucket for normal driving around and just kick on the external pump with a Hobbs switch at wot only. Have seen that done on a couple daily driven setups with no issues at all. Mine is actually gonna be ran like this.

Why not use the Aeromotive Stealth? Ive already installed one in a 502 Camaro with no cavitation issues. Used the stock tank but did install foam in the tank to slow down the fuel slosh. Just did not want a sump showing in the rear.
