Anyone know the weight difference between a 07-2012 ext vs crew?

06-07 classic crew would be your best bet if you're wanting to mod it with parts off your reg cab. I agree with Tim that the 800 trucks don't have quite the room that the 900's have but I'll sacrifice that for better overall interior and build quality, thicker exterior panels, sound electronics etc... The fact that the dash in my 07 has a hole in it you can put your fist thru pisses me off every time I get in it. I'd love to sell this thing and get an older truck again. I agree, the 14's are stupid expensive but damn they're much nicer than what has been built for a long time.
For the sake of expense, headache, and ease of swapping your mods, I'd get a used 07 classic.

Put some money into the truck that you have, IMHO.
I know that replacing old bushings and body mounts is enough to make any old(er) vehicle feel like brand new again. Plus you can swap in the hydraulic body mounts to the rear if you haven't done so already, which should help dampen the rattles and vibrations often felt in a high mileage vehicle.

my 11 crew just went over the scales and she said 5580. that is regular cruising weight with Bakflip, car seat, 8" sub and tiny amp, but no other extra crap or tools. I was surprised it wasn't more. that was at a transfer station

I've got the cracked dash that 95% of these trucks have and there's a creek bridge here that's got a big hump at the end... Crossed the creek at 75mph, went off the bridge and heard something crack, didn't pay it much attention. Parked the truck at the gas pump later that evening, went in to pay and walked past the truck going to pump gas. Saw it from the outside as it's behind the gauges, couldn't see it while driving. It looks terrible. Combine that with a nice crack from one side of the windshield to the other and it's really eff'd up looking. There's a dirt/ gravel pit down the hwy from my house and I constantly get stuck behind dump trucks. They've all but trashed the front end paint and windshields on everything we drive. It's bullshit.
Like I said, if I had it my way I'd trade this off for an older truck in a heartbeat. But I don't live at Burger King... The queen said no lol.
