Battery going dead??
Here's the scenario: Had ZERO problems with starting BUT I recently acquired the old lady's old car for my new dd. About the same time I decided to put an Optima red top in the truck. Now I only drive it about once to twice a week if that. Well yesterday the 3rd Optima battery croaked in 3 months. And I had driven it all day the day before. What the heck?? So I took it to my parts store I manage, checked it and the tester said bad cell,5.8 volts and 89 cranking amps out of 800??? Not leaving anything hooked up. Maybe Optima sending us some old batteries?? Have had 4 more returned for warranty in the last 6 months besides mine and they were less than a year old. So this time to compare I stuck in another new ACDelco 78DT-7YR to see if it's these gell batteries or my truck. Anyone else with battery problems??

I stopped using Optima's a couple of years ago. Exchanged 6 over the course of 1 year on a 100% stock 1997 Mercury Cougar. Every battery had a bad cell within 30-60 days. Finally asked for a refund and went to Sears and got a new DieHard Platinum. Have had the same battery for 4 years now, without a single issue. I'm about to get one for the truck, and will almost definitely go for a DieHard.
I've had excellent luck with Interstate, DieHard, and Exide. The only ACDelco's that have lasted more than 2 years are the ones that came with the vehicles, got 7+yrs on my 98 Silverado.
